SDS Ceramic Implants for Patients
At our practice, we are proud to offer SDS Ceramic Implants from SDS Swiss Dental Solutions, the world leader in ceramic and zirconia dental implants. With more than 25 years of experience, SDS has set the global standard for metal-free, non-metal dental implants designed for long-term health, strength, and natural aesthetics.
Founded by Dr. Karl Ulrich Volz, a pioneer of metal-free implantology, SDS Swiss Dental Solutions has played a critical role in advancing biological and holistic dentistry worldwide.

Why Choose Ceramic (Zirconia) Dental Implants?
Ceramic implants—also known as zirconia implants, white implants, or non-metal implants—offer several important advantages over traditional titanium implants:
Natural Aesthetics
Thanks to their light, tooth-colored appearance, ceramic dental implants blend seamlessly with natural teeth and gums. Unlike metal implants, they eliminate the risk of dark shading or gray lines near the gum tissue.
Excellent Biocompatibility
SDS ceramic implants are bioinert, meaning they are extremely well tolerated by the body. This makes them an ideal option for patients seeking holistic dentistry, biological dentistry, or an alternative implant solution.
Reduced Risk of Peri-Implantitis
Research indicates that zirconia implants may reduce the risk of peri-implantitis—a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the gums around implants—compared to traditional titanium implants.
Proven Long-Term Stability
Clinical studies show that modern high-performance zirconia implants offer long-term survival rates comparable to titanium implants, with excellent durability and performance over time.
Exceptional Strength
Advanced zirconia ceramics used by SDS demonstrate fracture resistance equal to—and in some cases greater than—titanium implants of the same diameter, making them a strong and reliable solution.

One Surgery, Faster Healing
Thanks to the unique implant design developed by SDS, many patients can receive their ceramic implant immediately after tooth extraction. In these cases, placement is often completed in a single procedure, and a temporary tooth can frequently be attached the same day—reducing treatment time and promoting faster recovery.
CleanImplant Certified — Twice
SDS ceramic implants are the only implant system worldwide to receive the CleanImplant Seal twice, a certification that verifies the highest standards of cleanliness throughout manufacturing and on the final implant itself. This ensures optimal healing conditions and added peace of mind for patients.

WHY AN IMPLANT?
A missing natural tooth may be one of the biggest reasons someone doesn’t feel comfortable about their smile. With dental implants, Dr. Pezeshkian and the Advanced Dentistry team can help you enjoy the beauty and functionality of healthy teeth.
Made of biocompatible metal so your body does not reject the material, dental implants serve as a tooth root replacement for a missing natural tooth. There are several different types of dental implants, and Dr. Pezeshkian and his team the type best suited for you based on your jawbone, gum tissue and other specific needs.
- Root-form implants: Best for patients with sound, healthy jaw
- Subperiosteal, blade or cylinder implant: Best for patients with a thin or deteriorating jaw
Dental implants are typically done in three stages and take between five months and two years to complete. Advanced Dentistry also provides invisible braces and a wide range of cosmetic dentistry services. If you’d like more information about dental implants or any of our dental services, you can contact us today to schedule a free consultation.
WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?
A dental implant (artificial tooth root) is a custom-made piece of biocompatible metal (so your body does not reject this material) serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. It is developed from surgical-grade titanium alloy to exacting specifications. Dr. Pezeshkian places the implant into either the upper or lower jawbone. After a period of time, the implant integrates with the bone and becomes a secure anchor for a replacement tooth, a fixed bridge, a removable partial, or a complete denture.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR A DENTAL IMPLANT?
If you are missing one or more teeth, then you may be a candidate for a dental implant. Dr. Pezeshkian will be able to discuss your individual clinical situation. Dental implants will allow you to smile, speak, and eat with confidence and comfort.
With implant dentistry, you can once again enjoy the beauty and functionality of healthy teeth. At Glendale Arcadia Advanced Dentistry, Dr. Pezeshkian and his skillful, professionally-trained team has a wealth of experience crafting exceptional smiles. Dr. Pezeshkian uses the latest dental implants and oral surgery techniques at the Glendale and Arcadia offices. Any procedure is possible, from single tooth to a complete replacement of all your teeth.
PROCEDURE
Tooth replacement with dental implants usually takes place in three stages. During your first appointment, Dr. Pezeshkian surgically inserts the titanium implant into the missing tooth root. The procedure is performed under a local anesthetic, so you will not feel any discomfort during treatment. Once the implant is securely attached, the dentist closes the gum tissue with stitches. For the next several months, the implant will gradually fuse with the surrounding bone in a process known as osseointegration.
The second stage of oral surgery takes place after the dental implant has sufficiently bonded to the jaw. During this appointment, Dr. Pezeshkian fastens a small connector, also called a post, to the implant. Once the procedure is complete, the gum tissue around the implant and post is allowed to heal.
During the third and final stage, Dr.Pezeshkian attaches the replacement tooth to the dental implant post. The custom-made tooth is carefully shaped and adjusted to complement your bite. Depending on the number and type of implants used, the entire process should take between five months and two years to complete.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS?
There are several different types of dental implants available to our patients. At our Glendale and Arcadia, California locations, Dr. Pezeshkian will determine which type of implant to use based on the condition of the jawbone, gum tissue, and the specific health needs of the patient. Root-form implants are the most common type of implant, and are best for patients with a sound, healthy jawbone. If a patient’s jaw is deteriorating or is especially thin, a subperiosteal implant, blade implant, or cylinder implant might be used instead. These implants are designed to reinforce the jaw and provide additional support for replacement teeth.
